$55,337 to $60,780 per annum, prorated to nine (9) month term, as per CUPE 1870

The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences seeks applications for the position of Laboratory Instructor.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Acting as an instructor for Introductory Computer Science Labs and/or tutorials in Python and Introductory Statistics Labs in R
  • Assisting with higher level applied statistics/mathematics lab and/or tutorials as required, depending on qualifications
  • Assisting faculty members in the development and testing of lab exercises
  •  Providing pre-lab instruction and guidance for the completion of undergraduate labs
  • Overseeing the grading of lab exercises and provision of grades to course instructors
  • Supervising undergraduate student assistants, including those gaining work experience through the course MCS 3050 (Tutoring in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences)
  • Proctoring and marking of exams

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics. Relevant experience will be an asset
  • A Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is an asset
  • Experience using Python and R
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
